You know Momma’s Boy  AKA MikiX the Cat KILLED the Birthday Party twice now, so he’s a proven winner!! Now, fancy NYC mag The Fader was kind enough to write some info about our man + here’s a new mp3!!! YES!!!!

Momma’s Boy and Mixik the Cat are actually the same person—producer Mike Gnacadja—so the concept of one man doing a song versus himself might sound weird at first. But from moniker to moniker, he creates two separate and distinct styles of music: Momma’s Boy is his spry techno-leaning alter, as his bubbly tracks on the Sound Pellegrino and Anabatic labels can attest, while Mixik the Cat takes a slightly darker slant, aiming towards 4AM low-end rattlers for releases with darkhearted heroes Trouble & Bass. So in lieu of having a constant internal soundclash, on his new EP, At Night, he attempts to integrate his brainwaves, uniting his musical personalities into one whole unit. Said unit is still somewhat insane and includes handclaps, bass throb, a couple parts that sound like a fireman’s hose, a demonic vocal sample and twitchy knobs, however, so we’re gonna posit that if Gnacadja ever goes full Sybil on us, dancefloors worldwide will actually explode. Nightshifters is happy to host a Wednesday night monthly at Jacki! Hosted by Nightshifters founder DJ Donna Summer (so you know it’s gonna be a party) and featuring acts from the label + international friends, we’ll be dropping all the newest Bass-house, UKF, Electro, and Dubstep jams.

Nightshifters is a digital only bass-house label from Berlin. The label is built around a core group of musicians making big club tracks to get people dancing! Our sound is hybridized; you can find elements of B’more, Rave, Electro, Dubstep, House, Bassline, and maybe even some Drum and Bass in the mix.

NS015 Mike Gnacadja is exploding on the international scene! Hot off his releases on Sound Pellegrino and Anabatic as Momma’s Boy and AKA bass-merchant MikiX the Cat with the Trouble and Bass crew. We’re proud to present both sides of his musical personality on “At Night”!  The combination delivers a massive house sound laced with a touch of tropical, a seasoning of bass and generous portion of good-old rave, “At Night” is destined to be international smash!

The Ep starts with the title track – “At Night” – a peak-time-hands-in-the-air-sweat-down-the-back-rave-infused-house-banger like we just don’t hear much these days. Then moves on to  “Like That” full of a warbling signal alarm and tribal percussion – keep them hands in the air. “Down To The Floor” keeps the massive house party vibe in full effect with a touch of UKF in the mix and we round out the originals with more huge house/rave action with “Party Rock”! It’s a hurricane of party-awesomeness!

As always here at Nightshifters we got some killer remixes!  Italy’s Supabeatz takes “At Night” and kicks up the squelchy synths while French newcomer Søvngaer flips the same into a melodic house progression.  Austin’s Dubbel Dutch cools down the original with some smooth chords before he kranks up the rave-stabs.  Australia’s Act Yo Age pushes “At Night” deeper with some creamy house and Nightshifters label head DJ Donna Summer takes you on a bass-fueled trip to the underground.

I’m happy to announce the latest Nightshifters release by Rob Threezy called “The Change Up”!! I know that you know the Threezy track “The Chase” (we blogged it here FIRST yo!) and I know you’re expecting that B’more-House sound, and you get it certainly here, but The Change Up is more mature with an openness to new sounds.  It starts off kind of creepy, but just wait for it… haha! The release comes with some super-awesome remixes by Jokers Of The Scene, DJ Sega, and our boy Mikix!

Oh shit! You already knew Mikix The Cat was super-awesome, you witnessed it if you saw him when he played our party a while back. If you’re ear has been to the ground, then you also knew he dropped a killer Trouble and Bass 12″ last fall.  It’s true, hype should be granted for him, as he’s just super-fucking awesome! I dunno if this is new or old, but I just got it last night, and it’s just so wikkid! The drop on this is killer. He’s being influenced musically by hardstyle and (hopefully) tektonics, and we say fuck yes to that! hahah!
