Today I’m releasing in collaboration with LA noise-rock label Deathbomb Arc my first “Jason Forrest” music in 6 years! It’s def not club music – more like experimental prog-rock.
Here’s the story: I was asked by Brian Miller to contribute to their “Digital Singles Club“ but because I have a new album coming out next year, I decided to go ahead and make this a full on EP, and why not- it’s FREE!
You can get it from the official Jason Forrest Facebook page, or from my Soundcloud, or just download it directly below:

TALK “Holy Mountain” Nightshifters NS019
BUY IT ON: Beatport, Juno Download, iTunes
It’s rare that music can feel ‘new’ anymore. But sometimes an artist comes along with an unusual mix of sounds and something bigger happens. We’re proud to introduce you to something deep, menacing – and yes – something new.
Talk is Daniel Lewis. His music is an intoxicating mixture of the mystical and guttural elements of strange late night lifestyles. Talk’s music is surprisingly cinematic yet, at heart, everything he produces is dark bass-filled club music. With an ear toward dubstep, gutter house, grime and tech-house, Talk is always moving forward. He’s constantly presenting audiences with his own atmosphere, constantly on the lookout for seductive new sounds.
The Holy Mountain EP is Talk’s debut release and it’s pretty challenging. The title track is an epic bass music anthem and an ode to the 1973 psychedelic film by Alejandro Jodorowsky of the same name. “Finland” finds haunting choirs melding together over a percussive backbone, while “Burning Alive” is a dark, artful tech house wasteland of delayed voices and synths. “Walking Disease” finds Talk at work with lazer sitars, cinematic strings and haunting synth stabs; it’s a dark journey through dark places.
And then we have the remixes. Hot as hell Distal brings even more heat with his tense organ driven Dubstep remix of Holy Mountain. UK mystery man Skinnz made a skittery garage inspired take on the title track while LA/Canada duo LOL Boys push up the 3Ball Club. Last but most assuredly not least, Deathface gives you a kidney punch with his screaming Dubstep version of Walking Disease to round out the release.
Just got this teaser made by some friends of us. Léonard de Léonard teamed up with Elroy to produce a music/visual band called The Escapist. From what they should escape we dont know yet, but it’s seem the package come heavy with tons of story, remixes and original productions. It’s like having a 50′s film on Blue-ray. Gut oder?
Remix are from Tepr, Jasko (Gooseflesh), Topper Harley (Acidkids), Nasser, Dlid and Neopen, Square Tune Magician and Leatherface…Can’t wait to check the TEPR one and this funky Dlid & Neopen remix. The original tracks to!

As you know, I, Jason Forrest, am a lover. I am one who loves. One act of love is to share, so that means that today I’m a sharer too.
Back in the late 90′s I stumbled across this awesome album by West Coast Pop Art Experimental Band called, “Volume 3: A Child’s Guide To Good And Evil”. A bold title for sure. In a nut-shell, The WCPAEB (for short) were like a weirder Californian version of the Velvet Underground. They had psychedelic light shows, weird songs, and plenty of artistic angst. Some say they were highly influential on an impressionable Frank Zappa at the the time; I can’t really find that verified, but it makes sense. The songs are a mix of heavy psyche rock and anti-war folk but with a lot of random 60′s dada thrown in for good measure.
I loved this album when I got it and haven’t seen it around since then, so imagine my surprise to get it used in Melbourne, Australia of all places. I heavily sampled this album in the track “Evil Doesn’t Exist Anymore” from my “Shamelessly Exciting” album and I always hoped no one busted me for ripping it off so obviously – but no one did because few people really know the band.
So like I said, I’m a lover and a sharer, so here’s my Sunday good-deed. Please go to the excellent label Sundazed and buy it if you like it. They have digital, Cd and 12″s there and I’m presuming they are good people. Also- they are probably lovers as well.

“Nightshifters: Selections One” is a look back on 2 years of great tunes and even better parties! Based in Berlin/New York, the label has been turning out bass house anthems by acts such as Hostage, AC Slater, Rob Threezy, DJ Donna Summer, Rampage, Jubilee and Proper Villains accompanied by remixes by many of the most innovate international club acts like Jokers Of The Scene, Momma’s Boy, C.R.S.T., Luna-C, Bok Bok and a host of others. Infused with House and channeling the power of Rave with an underpinning of Bass; this 16 track collection of kick ass features some of our favorite tracks we’ve had the pleasure to release!
This compilation is a mix of our label acts as well as a few of our favorite remixes. Some of our biggest charting tracks like Udachi & Jubilee’s “Paypur” and the Jokers Of The Scene remix of Rob Threezy appear alongside tracks that somehow fell through the cracks like AC Slater’s “Night Shift” and Proper Villains’ “Rave Juice”. The comp starts with one of our favorite tracks -Rampage’s “Big Breath” – a B’more / House jam that gets stuck in your head with a heavy vibe like no other. Also of note is the Nick Catchdubs Remix of “Paypur” feat. The Kid Daytona that’s just as home on dance floors as well as primetime hip-hop radio. We round the comp out with a track that really goes for blood, Hostage’s Drum and Bass remix of label founder DJ Donna Summer’s “Raw”! A huge collection of party tracks, “Nightshifters: Selections One” is packed with only our best tunes over the past 2 years. Play ‘em loud and proud!
Here’s 2 tracks to check out:

Artist Jen Ray featured with an interview and portrait on the Stil in Berlin culture blog!
Trevor Good, a young and aspiring photographer living and working in Kreuzberg is the newest addition to our StilinBerlin team. In the future he will portray artists and other interesting figures of today’s Berlin for us. You can see his ongoing documentation of Berlin’s art-world here: GOOD + UP.
For his first portrait he chose Jen Ray, because, as he says: “Her artwork and her personality have truly inspired me for many reasons and I wanted people to know about her and her drawings.”Ana Finel Honigman interviewed Jen Ray for an upcoming book accompanying her curational project “Saccharine” at Grimm Museum and we are delighted to publish an excerpt here:
Thats pretty gay i know.
In the meanwhile take a look at the Director of photography Marc Gomez del Moral. Really nice S16 works.
…but I like it! Sort of art but sexy Erwin Wurm-ish video but with bewbz video doesn’t hurt it either.

I Like This Blog is a Blog which I like. Mainly, it’s art photography with a few videos, but yeah, it’s really nice quality and, um, I like it!
