BIRTHDAY PARTY BERLIN

Next Densehall

June 22nd 2011 by Mr.Ouzo

We´re very pleased to welcome Mr. MACHINEDRUM back in Berlin. After making our hearts and ears go boom with the secretperformance of his sideproject SEPALCURE – held on our last year´s christmasparty, we´re very happy to invite him again (just on a proper stage this time). And there´s a good reason to do so: He´s just about to release his new LP this summer on one of our favourite labels Planet Mu.
There´s gonna be heavy bass driven support from Denmark´s new breed of beats. The New Foldercollective from Copenhagen catched our attention last year with a label-compilation of pure beauty located somewhere in the triangle of wonky/instrumental Hip Hop, Post-Dubstep and Future Garage. They´ll send us two of their embassadors:
NABO released in 2010 a magnificent 12″ on the (finally!) reactivated Hobby Industries label – also featuring a remix by Clouds.
VKTR is set to deliever you a proper downtempo experience in between abstract Hip Hop and Slomo-House. Sure this will make your booty shake!
On the 1and2´s: The Dense Allstars this time formed by DISSCOXXAREA BOY accompanied by Standard´s SLEEPWAKER with a selection of the finest in bass driven music.

Presaletickets available at the Dense Shop for just 7,- €.

Voltron – not just a robot made out of lions

April 22nd 2011 by Donna Summer

Discobelle are back with another totally solid release this time from VOLTRON. Here’s what they have to say about it:

With influences ranging from Baltimore ghetto beats over gay seventies disco singers to Chicago DJs who overdosed more than 20 years ago, Silverback Recordings co-founders Voltron have no lack of inspiration. Curating some gigantic releases in the past year, the Belgium based trio are now showing their dedication to proper dance music through their Discobelle Records debut release.

Dubbed the “Freshmen EP”, it’s actually anything but – a series of blazing and polished “UK-garage-meets-soulful-house-in-the-bathroom-of-a-rave” productions that showcase a vibrant dancefloor energy as well a depth perfectly suited to headphones.

Thomas in Voltron made this awesome mix:
But I know you’re wanna go buy this one – grab eeet from Juno:

There’s a new Jason Forrest album out TODAY!
He’s been on tour for the past 2 weeks with one of Germany’s most exciting bands – Bonaparte – and there’s a massive party to celebrate the album and end of the tour TOMORROW!

A marimba, a bell, some sub-bass, a trumpet, a guitar, a record, an archive, a life.  The Everything, Jason Forrest’s new full-length release, is packed with vitality, innovation and musical daring. This is not a bashful album, it’s not following trends, it’s arty in many aspects and it’s iconoclastic. The Everything is loud and proud, an album full of emotion from baroque melody to brutal noise. It’s symphonic, it’s clubby.  There are elements of almost every genre one can think of – from rockabilly to dupstep to eletro-acoustics. It’s an album that takes the listener on an audio tour through Forrest’s musical world.  In short- it’s everything.

Six years in the making, The Everything is the latest achievement in a long and varied career. It’s perhaps his interest in new music, his openness to old ideas and a restless ear that has helped Forrest to keep current and to remain true to his unique place in the music world.  Beginning his career in 1999, his blend of sample heavy classic-rock meets jungle meets noise propelled Forrest rapidly to international acclaim. His 2004 album “The Unrelenting Songs Of The 1979 Post Disco Crash” was championed by Pitchfork and launched him on a non-stop international tour that continues to this day. His last album in 2005, “Shamelessly Exciting” was a personal best for Forrest and gained glowing critical reviews worldwide.

DENSEHALL #8
at
Chez JAcki (Club Maria – access from the riverside)

It’s the eighth installement already of the infamous Densehall night! This time with an even more eclectic and amazing line-up than ever before!

Andrew Pekler, famous for his incredible deepness, will celebrate the WORLD-PREMIERE of his new audio-visual live show. He hasn’t played in Berlin for years and don’t expect this to happen any time soon again. Pastacas will bring their unique… blend of eastern-european folk, hip hop and smart electronica, all in a band constellation. Bill Youngman comes with his side-project Audible, which is rather a mixture of electro and bass music of the last years, than the state-of-the-art techno you would expect from him. Dustin Giegling is the man behind our favorite house label, so expect some soulful funk and kickdrums for your dancing pleasure… Florian Sievers is a man you can call an archeologist. He traveled all across East- and South-Africa, going through archives, collections and even dumps to find rare cuts of African music, gathering an unique insight in a very vivid, fascinating and basically unknown record culture. He will also hold a lecture on the African club culture within the “Techno und elektronische Musikkulturen global und lokal” seminar at the “Archive of Youth Cultures” earlier this day: http://bit.ly/dSoFjh

The night is supported by the KOHVIRADIO dj-team, longtime friends of us from Tartu, Estonia.

The night starts early, 10pm, due to the concerts!

—————————————————————————————————————————————————————–

This day was a clear blue sky day and I was strolling through my local park, Regents Park, and came across a flower which looked like a Daisy, though I’m not sure if it was, but anyway I came across this flower and it seemed to stand out from the rest on a patch of grass that was ever so green. I interpreted this image as a sign of individuality, an outcast in society; but a product of its own. Amongst repeated action there stands this autonomous soul who chooses not to follow others but instead remain outside the crowd yet still somehow within it… The green grass represented the sign of greatness to come and on this clear blue sky day the name was born; Blue Daisy, a representative of individuality. And that’s what I look to represent with my music”.
