Can this man save the album format?

May 10th 2009 by Donna Summer

I think so!

That’s Toddla T a young dude from Sheffield and he’s releasing one of the years best albums in a few weeks called Skanky Skanky.  The album is a combination of bassy synths, drum and bass inspired drums, dancehall, and grime with some video-gamey bits too. But binding it all together are truly funny skits, many with the most awesome Mr. V(ersitile) and a healthy self-deprecating humor rare to come by. But beyond the strength of the individual tracks – there’s not even a minor tune on the whole rec- is the album as a whole, a rare openness permeates through the whole thing and flows effortlessly between tunes. It’s engrossing, fun, fresh, and super memorable. Really, one of the year’s best for sure!

So last week he released an Essential Mix on BBC1, and here’s a re:blogged track by Andy George from Red Threat.

You should put a few more ads on your site as you could probably make a lot of money. This is great writing.
