You know Kanye’s back-up band, some french dudes called Daft Punk? Yeah, well I found this track by some other french dudes called Space Art, and yo, you can clearly hear they are ripping them off – even if it was from 1977. But I gotta hand it to them Frenchies, they can make a vocoder sing like a canary!

for the story, the guys beyond Space Art were the drummer and the keyboard of the French artist Christophe. During the seventies they worked on Christophe records alongside Jean Michel Jarre, who was at that time lyricist. When JMJ became a star with his fucking cheesy synth thing “Oxygène”, the two others went into it!! Call it opportunismus.

i got one of their records in Paris by accident and later on closer inspection was obviously so good someone had swapped the original record with some Jarre like jazz, would be rad to find some more of their stuff … link to now empty cover:
