Top tracks of 2008: Fake Blood

December 30th 2008 by Donna Summer

In my opinion there’s no artist who had a single greater impact than Fake Blood.  I think you can hear a visible difference in club music before and after his “arrival”. His use of more Rave oriented sounds and break beats mixed with the harder electro synths and weirder fidget sounds has really changed the whole scene. When he was just showing up the “banger” side-chained sound was getting a bit too easy to copy, and well, the quality of tracks was going down, but now more people are trying to creatively sample and chop things which can only make things better. His anonymity campaign also really paid off for him with tongues wagging his true identity to be soulwax and/or any number of famous producers. But perhaps his best moments of the year were his own two original tracks, “Mars” and “Blood Splashin / Fake Blood Theme” which are simply 2 of the fucking best tracks anywhere in any scene. Absolutely top-rate-fist-pumping-pogo-inducing jams. Here they are with a few other favorites.
