When Cassettes Ruled The World

July 10th 2008 by Donna Summer

Even though I’m largely ignorant about it, I try to give you folks here as much Kuduro as I can. Today, I’m not gonna do it though, my boy Todd at the Dalston Oxfam Shop is gonna do it! He recently did a radio show of all African music for for the definitely questionable Diesel U Music in London the other day. His blog (Dalston Oxfam Shop) is dedicated to ripping cassettes he finds in thrift shops. Tons of crazy stuff of all genres there. Definitely a whole world to get lost in!

But hey!  While you’re listening to the show maybe check out Yinka Shonibare’s work (pictured above). He’s been one of my favorite sculptors for a long time now, and proves he’s pretty much always great. This fan site of his is ugly but at least thorough.
