So I got these 4 tracks in the mail from our friend and Birthday Party invitee Magnum38 yesterday. I immediately downloaded them because of 1 word only. That’s right, the word was Schranz! What’s Schranz? Wiki will tell you here! And while not the most “intelligent” of musics, it can be really freakin fun! So I checked it and there’s absolutely no Schranz to be found in these tracks. Dunno why he named it that, but regardless, the tracks are GOOD! 2 are by him, 2 are by Hakan Libdo, so 4 tracks in total, 2 originals, 2 remixes, but over all 4 good tracks! Not sure if this is exclusive or not, but we’re just gonna say it is regardless.. hahahah!

Small anecdote on Schranz (after the jump) So yeah, I found out about Schranz in a record store in Vienna. I saw a bin labeled “Schranz” and started listening to white labels. Turns out these were special “Mash-up” Schranz tracks, with version of Conga by Miami Sound Machine, Ton Jones and Van Halen samples! (if any one wants I can upload the ones I bought) So then I was curious about this genre and started asking my various German techno friends about it. WHOA! It turns out this is a sort of “prol” music which many Germans found inherently offensive, and in my opinion almost afraid! I’m not really sure why, maybe because of the sort of horror elements in the music or right leaning sentiments of some of the scene’s fans. Dunno. I do still listen to Schranz mixes though because I love that galloping drum sound… (hummm.)

I remember when that happened, was there at the record store with you… whoever made those hard techno tracks with butt-rock samples must have had your specific music taste in mind while making it. You thought finding it was coincidence, in reality the track producer paid Colin off to take us to that record store.
